Baltimore Museum of Art Shop Inventory Clerk (Full-Time)

The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Inventory Clerk to play an essential role in the success and operation of the BMA Shop. The ideal candidate will aid in maximizing revenues while acting as an ambassador for the institution using their excellent communication and customer service skills and product management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with colleagues in the Museum Shop and perform tasks relevant to shop operations
  • Receive merchandise and supplies and checking for shipping damages, inventory and storage
  • Receiving and shipping merchandise in an orderly and timely fashion
  • Assembling containers/crates and packing goods to be shipped
  • Marking and labeling stock
  • Counting and recorded stock for annual inventories
  • Documenting deliveries/shipments with computer software
  • Managing inventory in a computer database
  • Ensuring that the publications storage room is clean and in order and correctly inventoried
  • Assisting in store operations, including running the register and helping customers as needed

This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Director of Retail Operations in the Finance & Administration Division.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1-3 years of cash handling/sales experience and 3-5 years customer service experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or professional experience equivalent
  • Prior experience with receiving and shipping preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move cartons weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on weekends, evenings and some holidays required
