Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is seeking an energetic, professional, and responsible seasonal program supervisor to oversee all operations of CAC’s ongoing, week-long summer programs for children ages 6-14. The supervisor’s primary role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that supports the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage 3-5 programs each week serving 40-75 students per week; manage instructors and ensure that programs are delivered at a high level
Ensure the safe operation and instruction of all activities
Support instructors as needed in the classroom, particularly with behavior management
Work with students with one-on-one needs, as needed
Manage safe and seamless drop-off and pick-up for students
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding program details, updates, and any relevant information.
Be a positive role model for students and staff, and arrive each day with an inclusive, professional, and upbeat attitude
Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff, including overseeing incident reports and behavioral plans
Communicate emergency response plans and procedures to instructors and staff; implement as needed
Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
Manage summer interns
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Elementary or Secondary Education, Social Work or related field
2-3 years minimum experience working with children in an educational role, ideally experience with children with special needs
Knowledge of behavior and classroom management techniques
Substantial interpersonal skills sufficient to work with a wide range of students and staff under various circumstances requiring patience, understanding, and flexibility
CPR certification and First Aid training must be completed prior to the start of summer
Willingness to perform all job duties with enthusiasm and a positive outlook
Deep appreciation for teamwork and drive to be part of a high-level team
Reliable transportation
Required background check, fingerprinting, and Covid vaccination proof
The ideal candidate has an art background, either a personal practice or formal education
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Schedule: This is a contractual, seasonal position that begins on June 17, 2024 and ends on August 15, 2024. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 9am - 4:30pm.
Compensation: $1200/week stipend
