**Audition Requirements**
Please note Strand Theater Company policy requires all actors to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 at time of your audition. Additionally, COVID testing will be required when masks come off during the process. No exceptions.

Prepare a monologue, poem, or speech that best showcases your talent and is no longer than 3 minutes in length. It should be memorized. You will be asked to read sides from the script.

Email Associate Artistic Director Erin Riley at [email protected] for an audition date and 30 minute time slot. Attach a photo and a theatrical resume if applicable. (It’s fine if you don’t have one.) Once you send your email expressing interest, you will receive an audition form via Google to fill out.

**Synopsis of the Play**
.
As Is, is the story of four Big Beautiful Black Women living the everyday struggle of trying to lose a few pounds and navigating their Big Black Womeness in the confined spaces of their lives. D. Everette has found her stride as a college professor. Antonia seems to have stumbled upon the perfect manifestation of Black love. Beverly, has her children and her grief. It is young Camille who threatens to unravel the four way friendship with her inability
to, find and relegate herself to, a confined space of her own.

**Roles**
.
All roles are open to actors 18+ but please be advised the play is written specifically for Black actors and all of the characters in the play identify as women. Additionally, as this is a play about body image, and specifically the body images of larger women, we're looking for specific body types. Per the playwright’s specifications in the script, only artists approximately size 16 or above 200
