Creative Alliance Seeks Language Arts Academic Teacher

Job Title: Language Arts Academic Teacher
Grade levels available: K-8th grade
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: OST Site Director
Compensation: $30/hour
Location: Tench Tilghman E/M School. 600 N Patterson Park Ave
Dates: Oct 15- June 20 except 1st Monday of the month; Professional development and trainings TBD
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays | 2:40-5:20PM

Overview: Creative Alliance provides comprehensive after school and enrichments programs to students in grades K-8. Students receive art and cultural enrichments, homework help, exercise, snack, and supper. We partner with various organizations and teaching artists to provide arts enrichment activities including theater, African drumming, dance, percussive music, ceramics, international arts, video and intramural sports. Our academic enrichment is led by certified BCPS teachers at Tench Tilghman who focus on improving math and language arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote the mission of Creative Alliance and goals of OST Tench Tilghman
  • Attend mandatory trainings and professional development workshops
  • Develop after-school lessons to improve student support and performance
  • Supervise and conduct homework tutoring from 2:40-3:10pm
  • Work with school coach to develop extended learning curriculum for two classes a day; one session is 3:10-4:10pm and the second session is 4:20-5:20pm
  • Conduct student assessments for academics quarterly with support of supervisor
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to teaching assistants and/or volunteers
  • Report all concerns regarding youth performance
  • Implement incident reporting and safety protocols
  • Engage in professional development opportunities
  • Maintain an orderly and sanitary classroom
  • Other duties as needed by Creative Alliance Education Department

Requirements:

  • Passion for youth, arts and education
  • Two years’ experience
  • Enthusiasm for Creative Alliance’s mission and programs
