AKIMBO Project Manager

Deep Vision Dance Company, Inc. seeks a project manager for AKIMBO Dance Festival with experience working in and a passion for the arts. This organized and detail-oriented individual is committed to working in a team environment, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and values timely communication.
Moving into its 5th year, AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival is an annual festival of site-specific dance and movement art in Station North Arts & Entertainment District, Baltimore, MD. AKIMBO Artwalk, the main event, features over one hundred artists performing in and through restaurants, galleries, parks, and sidewalks. Audience members set their own pace, freely walking through and interacting with the sites, as yellow shirt volunteers assist with flow.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Planning, organizing, overseeing, and executing various components of the festival
- Oversee/understand the “big picture” of the project, communicating and working closely with the project executives as needed
- Lead the AKIMBO Committees to efficiently and consistently meet objectives, coordinate the scheduling of deadlines, and lead/schedule meetings outside of the Deep Vision monthly staff meetings
- Coordinate and communicate with venues and artists
- Secure venues and determine logistics
- Secure requested permits and insurances alongside Artistic and Assistant Director
- Gather and organize artist and venue invoices
- Assist Audience Development Coordinator with tracking and calculating audience, artist, neighborhood, and venue statistics associated with AKIMBO events
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Attend additional AKIMBO meetings as requested/determined
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Workload around 125 hours.
Requirements:
- A minimum of three years experience in the arts; evidence of background in community work and team management
- Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing special events
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to provide high levels of customer service
- Proven ability to handle numerous details, with appropriate follow-up and reporting activities
- Strong self-motivation and self-initiative
- Ability to travel to Baltimore City on a regular basis and experience working in urban environments
- Highly detailed oriented
- Must be able to start immediately
Compensation based on level of experience. Contracts range between $1,500-$2,500. Contract lasts for length of project – 10 months to a year. Contracts are renewable.
