Creative Alliance seeks Visual Arts Instructor for the Creative Alliance After School Enrichment at Dickey Hill Elementary/Middle School (for 1st grade-8th Grade)

Creative Alliance Mission: The Creative Alliance builds communities by bringing together artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds to experience spectacular arts and education programs and engage in the creative process. We provide support to area artists, promote Baltimore as a center for creative production, act as a positive force in our community, and advocate for cultural expression rooted in a sense of place.
About Enrichment Program: Creative Alliance (CA) offers weekly visual arts workshops to students that take part in monthly performances at the school for family and community members. Guided by positive artist/teacher role model, our goal is to inspire students to use stories in any form to develop creative thinking skills, learn art skills and produce hands-on art projects in response to the readings.
Duties: The Arts Instructor will instruct one class of 20 students, Monday-Friday, 3:45pm-5:25pm at Dickey Hill Elementary/Middle School. Visual Arts Instructors will develop art lessons based on books, stories, and narratives. The Instructor will work with the (CA Education Department staff) to develop curriculum. Other tasks include: Submit supply list for class. Keep attendance profiles. Maintain daily journals. Supervise and delegate tasks to teaching assistants. Prepare for monthly exhibition presenting student work to families and community members. Work on program evaluation with CA Education Staff.
Training: All Lead Academic Instructors are required to attend a 2-day training:
Requirements: We seek a professional visual artist who have a proven track record of successfully engaging K-8th grade students in the art making process. Instructors must have skills in bringing JOY into the classroom environment. Experience in using positive reinforcement is a must. All interested teachers must have 3 references. Examples of visual art work and work with children required.
Compensation: $30.00 per hr
