Job Description:
The AArT will join with the Lead Arts Technologist in the management of the state-of-the-art Center for Collaboration & Technology at the Baltimore School for the Arts. This suite provides students and faculty with opportunities to create art works including video, music and still images, as well as general productivity technology.
The AArT will have a passion for technology and an ardor to share that passion with scholars to use technology in creating meaningful projects in artistic and academic fields. The successful candidate will be able to engage students and faculty from their initial contact with technology and through the creative process to a finished product. This work will require great people skills, the ability to solve problems with technology, ability to keep a large number of projects in mind and a willingness to meet students and staff where they are and help them move forward in a respectful, friendly environment.
Facilitating collaboration with students and staff is a significant element of this center and the AArT will be engaged in this work.
The Assistant Arts Technologist has a positive, open, and ‘yes’ mentality when collaborating on projects and assisting with the conceptualizing and realizing of student and faculty ideas.
The Assistant Arts Technologist will need a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition) and Pro Tools. He/she will also need a working knowledge of Canon/Nikon DSLR systems, general audio recording equipment, and basic audio/video recording techniques in order to recommend the appropriate equipment and techniques to be used in realizing student and faculty projects.
This is a part time (16 hours per week) position. The standard work schedule is Monday-Thursday 4-7pm, Saturday 8:30am-1:00pm. Hours may be adjusted due to scheduling changes and the needs of the Lead Arts Technologist.
Knowledge of additional software and hardware such as Cinema 4D, Ableton Live 9, Finale 2014, Max, Processing, Arduino, Epson printers, Midi Keyboards, and Lighting equipment is a bonus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move around the school buildings. Capable of lifting up to 50lbs. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
Experience:
Fluency with a significant portion of the software noted above or Bachelor degree in a related field.
Minimum one (1) year working in a digital media lab.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a part time, hourly position (16 hours per week) at $20.00 per hour.
