Rare opportunity to join the marketing team for one of the leading Children's Museums in the nation as our Digital Content Manager. The Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the digital strategy for Port Discovery Children’s Museum. Help tell the story of how Port Discovery educates and enriches the lives of children and families by helping children learn through playing.
This role will manage content across our website, social media channels, and other digital platforms to drive engagement, increase visibility, and support the museum’s mission and goals. The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic thinker who is passionate about storytelling, digital trends, and connecting with diverse audiences through digital media.
This position is expected to work approximately one to two weekend days per month (in rotation with other members of the marketing team).
The salary range for this position is $45k to $50k, based on experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
Digital Strategy & Planning
- In collaboration with the Associate Director, develop and execute a comprehensive digital content strategy aligned with museum marketing goals.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and visitor experience teams to create content showcasing events, programs, and exhibitions.
Content Creation & Management
- Create, curate, and manage engaging content for the website, blog, and social media.
- Collaborate with designers and influencers on visual content; maintain a digital media archive.
- Capture event photos and videos to generate content for digital projects.
Social Media Management
- Manage daily social media posting, engagement, and community management.
- Track social media performance and provide insights for improvement.
- Maintain a content calendar aligned with museum events; monitor and respond to social media interactions.
Website Management
- Assist with content updates, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and SEO optimization.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze digital performance; provide monthly reports on website traffic and social media metrics.
- Provide monthly reports on website traffic, social media performance, and other key metrics.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
- 2+ years of experience in digital content creation, social media management, or digital marketing.
- Experience in photography and short-form videography.
- Proficient understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working in the nonprofit or cultural sector is a plus.
- Must be willing to work some irregular hours, weekends and/or public holidays.
- Excellent customer service skills and portray a professional manner at all times.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent sitting and sedentary office work for normal work duties.
- Occasional standing & walking throughout the museum, bending and reaching with hands and arms. Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Must be comfortable working around large crowds.
- The noise level is typically moderate; it can be louder on busier days.
- Normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but 1-2 weekend days per month are required for gathering content and to support special events.
- Flexibility is needed for public relations and special events, requiring some evening and weekend work, a few times each month.
