Marketing and Communications Manager

Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh in Baltimore, Maryland seeks a creative and highly motivated Marketing and Communications Manager to join our team as we launch this exciting, brand new organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you’ll collaborate closely to craft and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support the organization’s growth. In this inaugural year, this position will be an integral, creative, technical, all-in investment which promises to be fun, challenging and impactful. As one of three full-time positions on the team, alongside several consultant roles, you’ll play a central role in shaping the brand, identity and success of our organization. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in social media and marketing principles, coupled with proficiency in design tools and language. You’ll be instrumental in developing our digital presence and eager to share your expertise and leadership with the team. At Third Space, every team member contributes beyond their specific role, pitching in wherever needed, including supporting night and weekend programming, to ensure our collective success in this exciting new venture.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement audience development strategy to help build new audiences and generate registration for approximately 100 programs/classes annually
  • Coordinate all Third Space Social Media channels
  • Execute a comprehensive social media strategy and editorial calendar including paid and organic posts on Facebook and Instagram
  • Craft compelling copy that tells Third Space’s story and embodies our brand voice
  • Create and post original content and leverage content produced by talent, event attendees and influencers (when appropriate) to promote growth of our channels and awareness of Third Space
  • Attend Third Space events to provide staffing support and to capture content for social media
  • Track metrics and report regularly on audience growth; adjust strategy based on performance
  • Respond to social media comments and tags in a timely manner and flag relevant information for staff
  • Stay abreast of latest social media trends and best practices and incorporate as appropriate into our approach
  • Oversee a strategic communications plan to include a website, social media presence, and public relations
  • Manage communications calendar and lead coordination with all Third Space employees to ensure a cohesive plan
  • Gather all artist/speaker promotional materials, videos and images.
  • Ensure all artist/speaker contract language pertaining to advertising/marketing is adhered to.
  • Build organizational emails and e-newsletters in Constant Contact or Mailchimp
  • List events in external online public calendars
  • Oversee media relations including maintaining media contacts, pitching stories, fielding inquiries, and writing press materials
  • Serve as lead staff liaison to website design firm
  • Manage all website edits
  • Create event webpages
  • Serve as lead staff for the Creative Taskforce
  • Coordinate all meeting scheduling, agendas, meeting minutes and follow-ups
  • Ensure the booking of professional photography/ videography at events, when appropriate
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to brand
  • Collaborate with outside consultant to implement brand guidelines
  • Be responsible for sharing brand logos and elements with partners/ vendors
  • Keep updated files on current brand logos, etc
  • Build relationships with other partnering organizations in the Jewish community and broader Baltimore community
  • Represent Third Space at community events
  • Serve in a front-facing role for all events, often serving as House Manager
  • Take on other administrative or supportive roles, as needed and assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BA degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience working in marketing & communications
  • An excitement for and preparedness to contribute in a start-up environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with precise attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong comfortability with all Microsoft Office and Google Drive tools
  • Strong proficiency with Canva, Adobe Suite/ Acrobat, Adobe/ Photoshop
  • Familiarity with social media tools such as Sprout Social and HootSuite
  • Experience with Mailchimp or Constant Contact, not required but preferred
  • Photo/video editing skills, not required but preferred

We are housed within Shaarei Tfiloh Synagogue, a historic synagogue located in Druid Hill Park in Baltimore that is no longer functioning as an active congregation. Constructed from 1921, it is one of the oldest synagogue buildings in Maryland. We hope to serve as a hub for learning, connecting and building community.
