Description
Reporting to the Director of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, the incumbent will partner and collaborate with leadership to identify gaps in policy, practice, and allocation of resources in the pursuit of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community for both the Enoch Pratt Free Library employees and the public that we serve. The DEI Officer must be an experienced, mission-driven leader who will play a critical role in shaping and sustaining a diverse and equitable culture of inclusion at EPFL.
Summary of Duties

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer:
Aligns and integrates a wide range of new and existing initiatives to support and promote EPFL's DEI objectives through recruitment and retention, training and development, outreach and collaboration. In addition, the DEI Officer will create strategies to codify the agency's strategic plan by applying a DEI lens to all programs, policies, and communications.
Negotiates cultural change and identifies perceived and actual barriers to change. Operates as a resource for all Department Heads and the Executive Leadership team. Remedies issues through facilitation, education, and coaching. Encourages courageous conversations and promotes change management.
Identifies and develops training to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences. Joins forces with Training Officer to coordinate and deliver educational events and activities to create a forward movement for cultural competency.
Stays current with diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional associations and educational groups and professional development efforts.
Serves as the Equity Coordinator for the agency-wide initiative for the City of Baltimore. Will develop, adopt, and oversee an equity program. Will produce a baseline analysis of the equity impacts of EPFL's existing and proposed actions and policies, encompassing programs, operations, and capital projects.
Leads the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness Council in its strategic mission to review and recommend actions that will lead to an internal and external environment of cultural change and compatibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or other closely related field required.
Master's degree with a focus in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Instructional Technology and Training, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.
Five (5) years of related Human Resource experience including preparation and implementation of training materials and diversity initiatives. Demonstrated ability to analyze and quantify data required. Professional Diversity Certification a plus. Experience in a Training and/or Educational environment a strong plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to analyze and quantify data. Demonstrated ability to build consensus and trust. Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. Ability to interface with all levels of management as well as influence leadership behavior. Demonstrated ability to lead others through teamwork and cooperation.
