FILM CURATOR
Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Compensation: $40,000-45,000
Overview: The Film Curator is responsible for curating and implementing the film program at Creative Alliance, creating new media for marketing and fundraising, and creating an archive of Creative Alliance audiovisual and print materials.
Principal Responsibilities:
Curating and Implementing the Film Program – 30%
- Select 28-35 a year to screen with panels, discussions, or other associated activities with partner organizations; Stay abreast of the film industry and upcoming films for potential screenings
- Build connections with film distributors, film archives, film festivals, and art-house convergence
- Work with community partners to ensure programming is inclusive of social justice, diversity, and LGBTQ issues and promotes the work of local filmmakers
- Select 4 films for Interactive Movie Nights with the Marketing Director
- Collaborate with others on special screening events, including 48 Hour Film Project, 29 days later film project, the Made in Baltimore Short Film Festival and other film festivals
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Design Associate on the social media, e-newsletters and print collateral needs for the film program
- Cultivate media contacts to promote the film program
- Act as liaison between Baltimore film community and Creative Alliance for networking events such as Baltimore Filmmaker’s Lounge and film panels
- Work with Office Manager, Technical Director and Event Managers to ensure smooth event listings and production
- Ensure proper contracts and payment arrangements with film distributors or filmmakers
- Attend and present at all film events at Creative Alliance
- Help provide information and narratives for grants to support the film program
Creating New Media – 30%
- Produce, direct, photograph, and edit promotional videos for Creative Alliance
- Work with Executive Director, Marketing Director, and Development Director to identify media needs
Establishing an Archive – 30%
- Evaluate needs, best practices, and procedures for establishing an archive
- Identify, assess, and organize collections of audiovisual and print materials related to Creative Alliance
- Digitize materials for potential online public access
- Assist with funder needs for grants related to archival project
- Partner with archivists from UMBC and other local universities
General – 10%
- Attend 1 hour biweekly supervisory meetings and weekly staff, program, and marketing meetings.
- Participate in “all-hands-on-deck” events such as Marquee Ball, Art to Dine for, Kite Fest, World Refugee Day, and Great Halloween Lantern Parade

Requirements:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience in Film history and filmmaking
- Experience curating a film festival or screenings program
- Experience from pre-production through post-production in video
- Excellent writing, organizational, and administrative skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prior experience working with the Baltimore film community
- Knowledge of archival best practices, a plus
- Fluent Spanish speaker, a plus
