BEHAVIORAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Temporary
Reports to: Site Manager
Compensation: $15.75/hour
Hire Dates: October 1st, 2019 to June 6th, 2020
Schedule: Monday- Thursday (2-6PM) | 1st Monday of the month are Staff Meetings at Creative Alliance (3134 Eastern Ave. Baltimore, MD 21224) 3:00PM to 5:00PM
Site: John Rurah OR Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School
Overview: Creative Alliance provides out-of-school-time programming that includes academic, artistic and cultural enrichment to students in K-8th grade in educational settings throughout the city. Students receive academic tutoring, multicultural art enrichments, homework help, and exercise. Creative Alliance partners with various community organizations and teaching artists to provide arts enrichment including theater, African drumming, Mexican dance, percussive music, cooking, video game design, basketball, and boxing.
The Behavioral Program Assistant implements and tracks BCPS’ Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support system. This position also implements strategies for behavior improvement and provides incentives in accordance with Creative Alliance behavior award system.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ALL AFTERSCHOOL STAFF)
- Lead the dismissal process for students at the end of each program day
- Monitor hallway traffic to ensure environmental safety of students and visitors
- Implement Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS)
- Manage PBIS tickets and reward distribution
- Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors.
- Report all concerns regarding youth behavior
- Implement, track, and reports incidents and ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct student conflict resolution and mediation sessions
- Engage in professional development opportunities
- All staff are expected to be actively engaged with students during program and represent Creative Alliance
