OVERVIEW
The BMA is seeking a dynamic and innovative Community Engagement Coordinator. This 3 year, part-time, position reports to the Director of Public Engagement & Interpretation in the Education Division.
The Community Engagement Coordinator will be the liaison between the BMA and its public. The position facilitates outreach efforts at the BMA Outpost through site-specific residencies with community partners, organizations, and institutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating programming at one of the two Outpost sites for the duration of each residency. The position will engage the public at the Outpost 3-4 afternoons a week, through art making, map-making, conversation, and public programs. The programming will be developed with the Manager of Community Engagement, yet the position will have a certain degree of autonomy, as there will be an expectation of flexibility and consistent adaptation to the needs of the community on any given day.
The Community Engagement Coordinator should be comfortable instructing and demonstrating a wide range of art making mediums and community building; from more traditional processes such as painting, drawing, and printmaking, to more nuanced situations such as facilitating sensitive conversations and connecting with people, all while creating a safe and open space for anyone who wishes to participate.
The position will be responsible for maintaining daily Outpost attendance records, weekly written records, managing the on-site supply inventory and submitting supply requests to the Community Engagement Manager. In addition, the position in conjunction with site hosts and the Community Engagement Manager will identify and train a community assistant to be hired for the duration of each residency.
The position will need reliable transportation and the ability to lift moderately heavy objects while transporting the Outpost and supplies to each site.
