Stories from the Fringe: Women Rabbis, Revealed!
Strand Theater Company, in partnership with the Gordon Center for the Arts, is producing a staged reading of Stories from the Fringe, written by Rabbi Lynne A. Kern and Ronda Spinak
Developed and originally performed at Los Angeles Jewish Women’s Theatre
Cast will be expected to know the piece very well and to perform with great conviction with limited rehearsals (approximately 6 rehearsals total not including final dress - open to the public. 3 with full cast and 3 individually with director) This is a paid opportunity.
Early Career Rabbi:
Female. to play several rabbis in the early part of their career - 30's. Pieces are filled with hope, enjoyment, strength, passion, spirit and great love of their work. Sense of humor.
Nearing-Retirement Rabbi:
Female. To play several rabbis in the later part of their career - 60's +. Pieces reflect personality of a trailblazer, of finding one's power, of questioning self and culture, of deep desire, spirit, love of Judaism, teaching and guiding. Sense of humor.
All Male Characters and Announcer:
Male. Late 40's to early 60's. Jewish. Pieces reflect dignity, strength, playfulness. Sense of humor.
