A basic tenet of GBCA is that we are stronger together than apart. Together we can share resources and intelligence, build coalitions and advocate for equity in the cultural sector and beyond. As such, GBCA recently shared its new alliance with the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce. Today, I am honored to announce that the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) and Open Works are partnering to further opportunities for artists and creatives in Baltimore. Beginning May 2023, GBCA members will receive membership and space rental discounts to Open Works, increasing their access to the makerspace’s workshops, education, tools, equipment, and more.

Speaking of partnerships, GBCA is so grateful for our partners in our region's Arts Districts. This Thursday, May 18, from 5-9pm, join GBCA member, Bromo Arts District, for their Bromo Art Walk. This night of artistic performances, exhibits, and open studios is free and a great way to tour and visit the 30+ participating creative groups at 21 locations throughout the district! GBCA is also excited about the Material/Inheritance: Contemporary Work by New Jewish Culture Fellows exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Maryland. It features the work of 30 artists whose work has been supported by the New Jewish Culture Fellowship (NJCF), a national arts fellowship that advances the work of groundbreaking Jewish artists.

Finally, congratulations to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture for its incredible Utopia gala last week. It was inspiring to hear from Governor Wes Moore and to be with the many museum supporters and leaders from the cultural field.
