Send us your superstars

It’s time to tap the shoulder of the talented, emerging leaders of color among your friends, family, students, and mentees. Urban Arts Leadership is now accepting applications for the program which will begin in September 2022. It is a powerful ten-month program that accelerates the careers of Fellows interested in arts administration by connecting them

to resources and professional development workshops, with particular focus on racial equity and inclusion. UAL also helps individuals from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the field to develop and expand their professional networks, which are key to advancement.

Since its conception in 2013, UAL has provided training to over 45 Fellows. UAL Alumni are employed within the arts sector in leadership positions locally, regionally, and beyond including at Maryland Citizens for the Arts, the National Museum for Women in the Arts, Maryland Institute College of Art, and more.

The UAL Fellowship award includes:

· Intensive professional development training in arts administration.

· The opportunity to lead a project in collaboration with host organization partners.

· The opportunity to network, and develop relationships with leaders in the arts

sector.

· Explicit equity and inclusion training.

· A $10,000 stipend.

Please share this message and link to www.baltimoreculture.org/ual where the application and further information about the Fellowship may be found!

Although there have been many advances over the past two years, it is essential that we remain vigilant in our efforts to create greater equity, accessibility, and inclusion. As Kimberle’ Crenshaw was quoted as saying last Sunday in the Washington Post, “Modest reform creates tremendous backlash. And sometimes the backlash is more enduring than the reform.”

All my best,

Jeannie
