RUBYS Artist Update - Performing Arts - Juanita Rockwell

Playwright Juanita Rockwell received a 2015 Rubys grant to support the development of the script, lyrics and music for A Little Patch of Ground, a darkly comic play with songs set in the bloody aftermath of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Since receiving her grant, Juanita has completed the first draft of the play at a PLAYA residency in Oregon and heads next to Wyoming for a Ucross Foundation residency. Keep an eye out for the public presentation of Juanita’s Rubys-supported project this May.

The Rubys Artist Project Grant program was established by GBCA in 2013 to support the region’s gems - the local creative community of performing, visual, media and literary artists. Created with the vision and initial funding from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, the Rubys value art making at the idea stage and supports local artists here and now.
