Spring is here and while many are turning their thoughts to graduation and summer break, GBCA is thinking about the fall and our next class of Urban Arts Leadership Program (UALP) Fellows. Starting today, applications for the 2015-16 Fellowships are now available. With the goal of diversifying the cultural workforce, UALP provides leadership and skills training to aspiring arts administrators of color, followed by paid Fellowships at area cultural organizations. This year our placement partners have included Everyman Theatre, Baltimore Clayworks, and Muse 360. Check out the full list here. In honor of Earth Day tomorrow, take a look at the wonderful year-round work of GBCA members Baltimore Green Map, Baltimore Tree Trust, Cylburn Arboretum Association and the National Aquarium. I am making a personal effort to be more green by giving up drinking straws. It doesn’t sound like much, but more than 5 million straws are used in the U.S. every year.

Next Thursday, April 30 is the Baltimore Thinkathon 3. Presented by the University of Maryland College of Arts and Humanities in partnership with the GBCA, this is a “think and do” event in which scholars, artists, social activists, foundation representatives and others come together in a one-day, intensive working session to imagine and plan the ways in which arts and culture can address the city’s challenges. We hope you will join the discussion at Westminster Hall.

While we hate to compete with OuijaCon, GBCA and Baltimore are hosting the Association of Performing Arts Service Organizations over the next few days. We are so please to welcome our colleagues from throughout the United States and Canada to Charm City.
