Join the Arts Administrators of Color Network in partnership with the Urban Arts Leadership Program of GBCA for the 2018 Annual Convening, the only annual convening for and by people of color in the arts.
This year, the annual convening will be held in Baltimore on September 29. Let's make a change in the arts industry. All topics of import to the field are welcome.

Breakout 1 (11:25 - 12:15pm)
Session A - The Unconference Session - A participant-driven session, the Unconference is an exchange of ideas, topics, and calls to action about anything and everything in the arts world.
Session B - Social Media and Your Artist Brand - Local artists will share how the evolution of social media has transformed their reach and access
Session C - How to Build a Robust Community at Any Point in Your Career (2- Part Sessions) - Interdependence is at the center of this workshop. Through activities, participants will mine each other’s networks to both discover and rediscover the numerous resources available to them. The implementation of these resources in their work/life will enable participants to develop, grow and nurture their relationship to the people, places and things that make up their community. Equipped with this information, participants will leave the workshop with the resources needed to adeptly navigate the ever expanding and increasingly complex world of arts administration.
Session D: The State of Racial/Cultural Diversity in Arts Leadership (POSTER SESSION) - This interactive session will feature concrete data on racial and cultural diversity in the arts management field and will involve audience input as to what the we can do as a community.
Breakout 2 (12:20-1:10pm):
Session A: Creative Networking: Making Lasting Connections in a Moment’s Time - This session will feature tips on how to build your team as an artist or arts entrepreneur in order to successfully create your brand
Session B: Decolonizing the Arts - A panel session on how to disrupt colonialism within the arts.
Session C: How to Build a Robust Community at Any Point in Your Career (2-Part Session)
Breakout 3 (2:30 - 3:20pm)
Session A: Sustaining: Arts Organizations and Communities of Color - How connecting with the communities we serve builds sustainability for everyone - Discover how you can maintain the sustainability of your organization through community. Using the Black Theater Movement as a model, we will discuss the tools and techniques used in the 60s and 70’s, how and why they worked, and break into groups to discuss how those ideas can be implemented in 2018. Think differently about the constituency of communities of color.
Session B: Speed Networking Session - Bring your business cards and prepare your elevator pitches! This session will allow participants to networking and build bridges with one another
Session C: Professional Development: Strategic Skill Building for Emerging Arts Leaders - This session is designed to help attendees think strategically about how to not only build their skill sets, but also how to articulate those skills on resumes, in their professional bios, and in interviews. While traditional means of professionalization, such as academic programs are discussed - we will also discuss ways of building skills for those that are not ready (either mentally or financially) to undertake graduate work in arts management.
Session D: Navigating UnSafe Spaces: How to deal with Fragility in the workplace - This interactive panel session will provide strategies of how to deal with passive aggressive behaviors in the workplace.
