Our hearts go out to friends in Ellicott City - residents, business owners, and to the families of those who lost their lives in the devastating flash flood. The arts community there was hit hard and in particular one of its important anchors, Still Life Gallery. Owners Sara Arditti and David Dempster lost their entire framing business and sustained significant damage to the gallery. You can read more here and see a dramatic video of David and others rescuing a woman stranded in a car that was being pushed down Main Street by the flood. To learn more about how you can help with the Ellicott City rescue efforts, visit the Preservation Maryland website.
The host/partner organization applications for our Urban Arts Leadership Program (UALP) are now open. UALP works to build high performing, passionate, committed, and diverse teams. Arts and cultural organizations who see the advantages and value of inclusivity and equity are encouraged to apply. GBCA will help you connect to talented emerging leaders to help work on high impact projects.
Please join us this Friday for an Arts & Culture Happy Hour with AmiciMusic at 208 Northway Baltimore, MD 21218 from 5pm-7pm. This event is free but your RSVP is required here.
Stay cool,
Jeannie
P.s. Don't miss the chance to be among the first to see the 2016 Baker Artist Award Exhibition that just opened at the BMA.
