Executive Director’s Letter

May 31, 2022

July 19, 2022-it’s just around the corner! With redistricting in Maryland, there have been delays in setting the Primary Election date, but now that we know when it will happen,it’s time to prepare. Are you unsure what the redrawing means to you?

Do you need to register, request a mail-in ballot, or get information about voting in person? You can visit The State Board of Elections website.

As noted on the Maryland Matters website, this is a year of big changes for the state. “By early 2023, we will have a new governor, a new lieutenant governor, a new attorney general, and a new state comptroller. The effects of redistricting could alter the makeup of the state’s congressional delegation and the Maryland General Assembly. And county governments are facing major change as well.”

As you weigh your decision about for whom to cast your vote, Maryland Matters also has a 2022 Election Guide covering the race for Governor, Comptroller, and States Attorney. Maryland Matters is an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan news site covering Maryland government and politics.

Another great source of information is the League of Women Voters. You can find information on upcoming candidate forums here.

This is also a time of great transition for arts and humanities advocacy, as some of our most stalwart legislators approach the end of their careers or are running for statewide office. Stay tuned, stay informed, and help spread the word about where to find voter information during this period of change.

My very best,

Jeannie

P.S. Tomorrow, June 1, is the first day of Pride Month. Let’s celebrate and continue to fight for the right to love who you will, and be who you are!
