The Baltimore area is blessed with many beautiful green spaces and ways to explore nature. Baltimore Green Map, with the leadership and inspiration of Janet Felston, has mapped nature, culture, daily living resources and activism since 2008. Now, their latest map, Jones Falls Trail Connected! has just been released. Baltimore Green Map (BGM) has printed 3000 of these beautiful and informative guides with the goals of 1) connecting people who use parks and trails with the many unique resources in the surrounding neighborhoods; 2) increasing knowledge about those parks and trails to stimulate more use; and 3) to lead the way to more advocacy and stewardship via the Learn & Take Action section. The paper version folds to pocket-size and is a ready reference to be perused over time. You can also access a pdf on https://baltogreenmap.org where you can learn more about, and support this beautiful and useful work. Is your organization on the map? Reach out to Janet directly for your supplies at [email protected].
Did you know that May is Fine Arts Month? Throughout the month, City Schools will be celebrating Fine Arts Month with rotating exhibits and performances at Central Office as well as school-based events. Check out all the happenings on the Fine Arts Portal!
And there’s more!. The annual Courting Art Baltimore is a juried show organized by Baltimore City District Court that will award scholarships totaling $20,000 to five Baltimore City high school students in recognition of their outstanding artwork at an awards reception for finalists. The event takes place at 6:00 pm on May 18 at the Eastside District Courthouse. Follow this link to RSVP.
All my best,
