Executive Director 1/23/18

I am delighted to announce that Dr. Sheri Parks has been elected president of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance Board of Directors and assumed her new role as of January 1. Sheri has been on the Board since 2013, most recently serving as Vice President.

You may know Sheri from her insightful on-air observations on WYPR radio. She is also Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland, and has initiated a number of innovative programs in Baltimore, including the Baltimore Think-a-thon for which GBCA is a multi-year partner. Please join me in welcoming Sheri, and in thanking outgoing president Julia Marciari-Alexander, the Andrea B. and John H. Laporte Director of The Walters Art Museum for her spectacular leadership over the past two years. Joining Sheri as officers are Bryn Parchman, Vice President; Navasha Daya, Secretary; and Fred Bronstein, Treasurer.

Coming from diverse backgrounds with wide ranging areas of expertise, I am also proud and pleased to announce that the following extraordinary people have been elected to serve on the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance Board of Directors:

Wanda Draper (Executive Director, The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture)

Carla Du Pree (Executive Director, CityLit Project)

John Hendricks (Dean of Arts, St. Paul's Schools)

Garey Hyatt (Assistant Professor, Coppin State University)

Monica Lopez-Gonzalez (Co-Founder & Executive Scientific & Artistic Director, La Petite Noiseuse Productions)

GBCA has also established a new Equity and Inclusion Strategy Committee of the Board that is being led by Kevin Apperson and Kathy O'Dell.

This is an exciting time for GBCA and I am grateful to have such a talented and committed Board of Directors and to be working in partnership on behalf of the region's cultural sector.

All the best,

Jeannie
