The nonprofit Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is a dynamic theatre of the classics with a strong education mission and exciting stories to tell.
We are looking for a part-time Marketing Assistant with sales/marketing and communications experience. The ideal candidate will also have experience creating and editing promotional video for social media.
Reporting to the Communications Director, the Marketing Assistant will help create sales promotions, targeted marketing campaigns, show programs, website and social media content, and patron emails. The Marketing Assistant will maintain our ticket calendar, build and manipulate mailing lists, update our customer database, and support promotional events in the theatre and in the community. The Marketing Assistant will work on direct mail and digital campaigns and provide clerical support as needed to achieve the department’s goals. Duties will include prospecting for leads, researching business and partnership opportunities, and collaborating with the Box Office to increase group sales. The Marketing Assistant will be called on to support and collaborate with our community outreach, education, and development staffs, and will interact with patrons, business partners, advertisers, sponsors, and vendors. For visual communicators: the Marketing Assistant will tape interviews, excerpt archival tape, create trailers for the plays, and assist with other video projects as needed.
Must thrive in an atmosphere of creative collaboration and appreciate editing: Excellent spelling and grammar are necessary. Please do not apply if you are afraid to pick up the telephone to make cold calls, research a play, or delight a customer. We use WordPress, MailChimp, and Patron Manager; candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Excel. Education and experience. Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years of experience in a related field (marketing, public relations, advertising, sales, or journalism). Theatre experience is helpful. This position is not open to agencies, consultants, or telecommuters.
POSITION AND BENEFITS:
- This is a part-time staff position at our downtown Baltimore theatre: approximately 20 hours per week, including evening and weekend events. In the summer, assignments include working at our outdoor stage in the Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park in Ellicott City, MD. A car is necessary for this commute.
- Salary commensurate with experience, paid on the 15th and 30th of the month
- Two weeks paid vacation, plus last week of the year
