A Home for the Heart to Live In
CityLit Project is thrilled to announce this year’s A Home for the Heart to Live In, a gathering of Cave Canem poets. This signature event will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Motor House, 120 W. North Ave., Baltimore, MD 21201 in the Main Theater.
CityLit welcomes acclaimed poets Danez Smith and Reginald Dwayne Betts to headline this year’s afternoon of poetry. Cave Canem, a foundation dedicated to nurturing and propelling the careers of Black poets, was co-founded by Cornelius Eady and Toi Derricotte - whose work the series is titled after. CityLit celebrates the work of this organization with an annual convening, playfully called “a family reunion” by presenting 12 regional fellows, including curator, Reginald Harris.
The Ivy Bookshop is the designated bookseller. The event is FREE. Registration is requested but not required. Walk-ins are welcomed.
This event is made possible by the generous support of the Academy of American Poets, Amazon Literary Partnership, National Book Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, Maryland State Arts Council, Maryland Humanities, the Motor House, Baltimore National Heritage Area, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, Creative Baltimore Fund, insight180, Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, the T. Rowe Price Foundation, and Baltimore Children & Youth Fund.
