Danceathon Deluxe and Pigtown Main Street present a Unity Dance
Election Week, Friday, November 8th 7pm–Midnight
Checkerspot Brewery - 1421 Ridgely Street, Baltimore
A multicultural, multi-generational dance party
DJs & a host of Baltimore’s top dancers
keep guests on their feet.
A must attend multi-cultural dance odyssey. The turn-up starts when you enter.
First course of the evening. An electrifying cultural journey and you’re part of it.
Come at 7PM for a fortifying, high-energy dose of Bmore club music, line dancing, hip-hop, salsa, step, swing and more.
Imagine that Soul Train meets swing. Dance through a slide from step into salsa to shake-offs. Do your thing on the dance floor, but there’s plenty of Baltimore’s top dancers on-hand to guide you if it’s new to you. Expect star-level dance igniters, flashmobs, tango and Chicago two-step, grab an autograph and exhale as election week wraps up.
The second rhythm wave of the evening journeys to the tropics
Find your groove in infinitely danceable afrobeats, reggaeton, soca, dancehall, bachata, and Bollywood freestyle. There’s pro dancers on hand to lead the way, or a waiting dance floor to go diabolical.
Later in the evening
Electronic Dance Music (EDM) including house and trance, nu-disco and trap. For those who think they can dance, a battle hour is curated just for you.
Our DJs are busy right now, queuing up your favorites — and brand new selections. The growing list of dance facilitators includes: Bmore Than Dance crews, TSU Terry, Baltimore Salsa Dance Company, Spirit Feet, Illestrate, Baltimore Knockers and sorority steppers, Que Dogs and bust out Hodas, Vogues and EDM all-nighters. The list grows daily.
Co-host Curtis Eaddy II, of the Beautiful Side of Ugly, urges everyone to not miss out on this unforgettable celebration of Dance, Music, and Community in Southwest Baltimore on Friday, November 8th.
“Dance is the best evidence of music’s power.” According to Nate Daley, music producer, “music and dance forge unity.” Jonathan Schwartz, filmmaker and event organizer, hopes that “even an awkward moment on the dance floor chancing a new step means active engagement with neighbors.”
“We use fitness as a conduit to greatness,” says Anthony Huggins, of Southwest Sports & Fitness Alliance. “Dance is a glimpse into your creative spirit,” David McGill of Union Square believes. Eaddy agrees, and moreover “Movement is medicine, and dance is the kinetic form of art therapy. Bring your vibrations. We provide rhythm and bass.”
Dance to what you know, take a chance on what you don’t, follow us down. November 8th, Checkerspot Brewery.
