AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival 2016: Call for Artists
Proposals accepted on rolling basis until Mar. 25th.
Presented by Deep Vision Dance Company, the 5th annual AKIMBO Festival is a site-specific dance and movement art festival in Station North Arts & Entertainment District, Baltimore City, MD. AKIMBO is looking for artists to dream big, to propose ideas never seen before at AKIMBO, and to question the definitions of dance and movement art. AKIMBO is encouraging interdisciplinary projects, proposals that take artistic risks, and ideas that focus on a strong artistic vision/voice from the company or artist. that collaborate with movers or have a movement focus to their work.

● Projects with a strong artistic voice and vision

Facilitated by world-renowned artist, Liz Lerman, this workshop series is divided into 2 sessions. “Text & Stories” (12-1:30pm) explores going from ideas to movement and back again. “Site-Specific Art Making” (1:45-4:00pm) looks at emerging topics on creating site-specific work in the city. A “How Do I AKIMBO?” info session about the AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival proposal process immediately follows the event from 4-4:45pm). Workshop is FREE. RSVP to [email protected].
