UMBC Seeks a part-time General Assistant/Operations and Event Coordinator

POSITION TITLE:
General Assistant/Operations and Event Coordinator

PERSONNEL STATUS:
Nonexempt, Part-time, Contractual

DEPARTMENT:
College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Dean’s Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will provide audience support as part of the Performing Arts and Humanities Building (PAHB) Office of the Operations Manager for all publicly attended productions and concerts and assist with the coordination of all events that are scheduled in UMBC’s Performing Arts and Humanities Building which contains performance venues for the Dance, Music, and Theatre Departments. Specific duties include: developing procedure for front-of-house operations; coordinating the day-to-day front-of-house support for all PAHB events and productions; supervising technical needs and event staff for internal events scheduled in the PAHB; hiring, training, and scheduling of student ushers; overseeing general evening and weekend use of the PAHB; assisting with the programming of PAHB departmental access needs; and performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field. Experience in event coordination and front-of-house coordination preferred. Knowledge of ADA regulations in regards to public assembly strongly desired. Must have student staff or volunteer supervision experience. Basic knowledge of theatrical audio and lighting systems preferred. Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Note: Position requires a flexible work schedule of primarily evenings and weekends. Must be able to carry 50lbs.

SALARY:
Salary commensurate with education and experience. This is a temporary, Contingent I position and does not include benefits. Initial contract is for a period of six months with possibility of renewal.
