OVERVIEW
The Baltimore Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer with 5-7 years of hands-on mechanical/BAS experience in a commercial/institutional setting. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall mechanical operation including steam, cooling, heating and humidity; Building Automation System (BAS); and the operation and maintenance of the Museum, warehouse building and utilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Maintenance of emergency generator with monthly full load tests, and maintenance outages to be coordinated with the Master Electrician.
· General maintenance, repair and upgrade of existing mechanical, chillers, cooling towers, humidifiers and air and water quality issues; energy management and the installation of new systems and inventory control.
· Serving as a point of contact for all HVAC, steam, water and equipment outages, and any other major emergency events.
· Providing support to Master Electrician and Mechanical staff for the daily operation, maintenance and after hour’s response for the Museum.
· Working with design consultants, contractors.
· Overseeing mechanical work during capital improvements.
· Providing input to the operating and capital budget.
This full time, non-exempt position requires on-call rotation and reports to the Director of Facilities and Engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 5-7 years of mechanical experience in a commercial/institutional setting
· A valid Class “C” driver’s license
· A valid Stationary Engineer Grade 3 License
· Analytical and organizational skills
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Strong verbal/written communication and computer skills such as Outlook, Word and Excel are a plus
· Strong troubleshooting skills
· A thorough knowledge of building mechanical automation systems
· Good mechanical/technical aptitude, and the ability to create and maintain a mechanical PM program
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed, with rotating scheduled on-call weekends.
