Cohesion Theatre Company Seeking Designers, Stage Managers, and Technicians for Season 2

Cohesion Theatre Company is seeking designers, stage managers, and general technical assistance for four main stage and three workshop productions as part of our 2015/16 Season. Interested applicants should submit a resume and brief letter of interest detailing which positions and productions they are available and applying for. Each show will not necessarily require all listed positions. All inquiries should be emailed to Artistic Producer, Brad Norris via email at [email protected]. Stipends:

Stipends are available for all actors, directors, designers, and crew working on Cohesion Theatre Company productions. Cohesion Theatre Company is committed to paying all our artists for their work. Cohesion is a non-equity theatre company.

Costume Designers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical costume design and construction, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The productions this season range from contemporary and minimal to period fantasy and complex. The chosen party for each production would be responsible for the design and execution of all costume related elements of the show, while also working closely with the Director, Lighting Designer, and Scenic Designer to form a cohesive vision for the production design. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Scenic Designers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical scenic design and construction, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The productions this season range from contemporary and minimal to period fantasy and complex. The chosen party would be responsible for the design and overseeing the execution of all scenic elements of the show along with the technical director and production manager, while also working closely with the Director, Lighting Designer, and Costume Designer to form a cohesive vision for the overall production design. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Props Designers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have experience with properties design, construction, and procurement, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The productions this season range from contemporary and minimal to period fantasy and complex. The chosen party would be responsible for the design and overseeing the collection or construction of all props elements of the show, while also working closely with the Director, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer, and Scenic Designer to form a cohesive vision for the overall production design. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Lighting Designers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical lighting design, hang and focus, and are able to work within the confines of a small but reasonable budget. The productions this season range from contemporary and minimal to period fantasy and complex. The chosen party would be responsible for the design and overseeing the hang and focus of all lighting elements, as well as securing any additional equipment beyond Cohesion’s stock. They will also work closely with the Director, Scenic Designer, and Costume Designer to form a cohesive vision for the overall production design. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Stage Managers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have experience with theatrical stage management, and overseeing assistant stage managers and run crew. The chosen party would be responsible for overseeing rehearsals, coordinating rehearsal schedules, participating in production meetings, running the shows in tech and performance, and generally facilitating communication amongst directors, actors, designers, and producers, along with distributing daily rehearsal and performance reports to all parties. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Assistant Stage Managers (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have some experience with theatrical stage management and/or run crew. The chosen party would be responsible for attending rehearsals and assisting the Stage Manager in completion of duties related to communication, scheduling, and production meetings. During the show’s run the Assistant Stage Manager will act as a board operator or run crew for the duration of the performances. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Assistant Directors (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have some experience with theatrical directing and/or stage management. The chosen party would be responsible for attending rehearsals and assisting the Director in completion of duties related to blocking, artistic concepts, communication, scheduling, and production meetings. During the show’s run the Assistant Director may act as a board operator or run crew for the duration of the performances. The ideal applicant will also have excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a stipend. Run or Build Crew (contract, stipend)

Ideal applicants have some experience with set construction, painting, or theatrical tech work. Interested parties might be asked to assist with construction or painting during the scenic build process and tech, or to sign for the duration of the show’s run if there is need for additional crew during the performances. This position will not need to attend rehearsals prior to build and tech, but will be contracted on an as needed basis depending on the level of production requirements. The ideal applicant must be a hard worker and willing to learn and complete tasks independently, as well as having excellent organizational and time-management abilities and possess good written and oral communication skills. This is a contracted position with a small stipend. Show Details:

All Main Stage Productions will receive 12 performances over three weeks.

Workshop productions will receive between 3 and 5 productions over one weekend.
