Supervisor: Annemarie Guzy, Director of Education

Term: Flexible: Some hours available as soon as possible through June 27, 2015; more hours available May 15 through June 27, 2015, some hours through July 18 may be available.

Compensation: Modest stipend, free parking, complimentary BSO tickets, opportunity to attend workshops and rehearsals at the BSO Academy, learn first-hand how the unique Academy programs run

Hours: - Approximately 6-10 hours per week through June 9 (these

will be flexible and mutually agreed based on needs and intern’s availability)

  • Weeks of June 8 and June 15: 2-5 days per week Monday-Friday, depending on needs & intern’s availability
  • June 20-27: 7+ hours per day, Must be fully available on all of these dates
  • June 29-July 18: TBD

About the Academy:

The week-long BSO Academy brings together passionate adult instrumental musicians from all over the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Led by the exceptional Maestra Marin Alsop, participants play side-by-side with the BSO in rehearsals and performances and experience master classes, lectures, chamber music coachings, and sectionals led by orchestra members and experts in the field. The Academy provides an immersive experience for participants who desire an intensive learning experience.

Responsibilities:

Intern will assist the Education department with event logistics leading up to and during the week of the BSO Academy (June 20-27). Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with the running of the day-to-day logistics for this monumental program, generating and compiling informational packets for participants, creating and posting all signage, purchasing supplies, helping with operations and setups throughout the Academy programs and assisting participants throughout the week.

Qualifications:

Strong verbal, written and organization skills are required. Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, willingness to learn, a supreme attention to detail, and a sense of creativity are highly valued qualities.
