Young Audiences: Year Long Paid Social Media Internship

About this position:
We are seeking and self-motivated individual to join the Young Audiences Communications department. Ideal
candidates and self-starters, effective problem-solvers, and confident creative thinkers. This paid internship position
offers a hands-on learning opportunity in social media and blogging at a leading arts-in-education nonprofit in
Maryland. Young Audiences Communications department manages the creation and production of all organizational
print collateral; the organization’s website, e-newsletter, and social media presence (including Facebook, Twitter,
Flickr, and blog); and various other marketing initiatives to support the organization’s arts-in-education programs and
fundraising efforts.

Experiences include:
● Help with the creation of online content, including conducting interviews with stakeholders and partners,
editing, and capturing/creating photos or graphics to accompany written pieces.
● Assist with the implementation of online content across various platforms, including the Young Audiences’
blog, social media, and other web content, brainstorming creative and engaging ways to share content
through all online channels.
● Assist with Communications initiatives and projects to support the organization’s departments and programs
as needed.

Desired skills and experience:
● Strong writing skills
● Passionate about digital communications and social media.
● Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
● Independent, out-of-the-box thinker with the ability to solve problems.
● Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Arts Administration, Public Relations, or Marketing, Advertising,
majors/ backgrounds preferred.

About the Internship:
● The candidate will be able to start in January 2015 and intern for at least 32 weeks
● Work Schedule: Flexible; Maximum of 12 hours per week
● Compensation: $10 an hour with a maximum of 12 hours per week
