Shriver Hall Concert Series invites applications for the position of Operations Manager, available immediately.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager She/he is responsible for the efficient, smooth, and professional operation of Shriver Hall Concert Series, with duties in concert production, sales, customer service, publications, promotion, fundraising, and office administration.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Production
- Organize all matters pertaining to event production including, but not limited to, stage set-up, instrument delivery, necessary equipment, and appropriate staffing.
- Coordinate production details for all SHCS events with JHU departments, outside vendors, and concert staff.
- Arrange and coordinate logistics of visiting artists, including, but not limited to, itinerary, lodging, and travel.
- Serve as primary problem-solver for production matters at all SHCS events.
Sales & Customer Service
- Manage the Box Office, including all aspects of subscription and single ticket sales, ticket exchanges, and CRM database updates and maintenance.
- Provide customer service to all patrons, including by phone, in person, and at events.
- Prepare regular CRM database reports and list segmentation for analysis, marketing, fundraising, accounting, and other purposes.
- Serve as Box Office representative for all events.
Publications & Promotion
- Write marketing copy and patron communications
- Collaborates in the creation and production of the season brochure, annual program book, and program inserts.
- Solicit and secure advertisements for the annual program book.
- Update and maintain website content, develop patron e-blasts, create social media posts, and contribute to digital strategy.
- Conduct student and general outreach.
Development
- Process all donations and ensure accurate donor records and tracking.
- Provide administrative support for all donor campaigns.
- Write narratives and provide administrative support for all funding proposals and reports
- Participate in the research and identification of new government, corporate, foundation, and individual funding prospects.
Administrative
- Provide administrative support for office and all SHCS-related activities
- Supervise student intern.
- Take Board and committee minutes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2-5 years experience in an administrative role with arts/non-profit organizations (preferred) or in an office setting. Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience.
- Knowledge and appreciation of classical music and standard concert practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to communicate warmly and effectively with patrons, donors, board members, vendors, advertisers, artists, artist managers, and colleagues.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in working independently, working in collaboration, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and executing multiple projects.
- Personal integrity and strict code of confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Constant Contact
- Able to work weekends and evenings
- Must be accessible by mobile phone during concert periods and be willing to share mobile phone number with artists, managers, and staff. Mobile phone must be maintained at employee’s expense.
- A valid U.S. drivers license
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1966, Shriver Hall Concert Series is one of the nation’s most respected presenters of internationally known soloists and chamber ensembles. Established in 1966, the eight-concert subscription series is presented in the 1,100-seat Shriver Hall auditorium on The Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Campus in Baltimore, MD. An additional three “Discovery Series” concerts are presented in venues throughout the Baltimore region, and outreach activities are conducted on a regular basis.
Though it maintains a close working relationship with The Johns Hopkins University, Shriver Hall Concert Series is an independent 501(c3) corporation that relies solely on ticket saSHCles, endowment income, grants, and contributions for support, and is governed by a Board of Directors.
