Beyond a terrific 30th Anniversary Artscape, the big news in Baltimore Culture last week was the announcement that the National Endowment for the Arts awarded $150,000 for a project in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District as part of their inaugural round of Our Town grants.
There is a Station North focused art and design coalition that applied for the grant, which includes MICA as the lead partner, Station North Arts and Entertainment District, Inc., Central Baltimore Partnership, D: Center, and Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts.
According to a post from MICA, the funds will be used to “support an effort to enliven vacant lots and storefronts with creations by local artists, and a monthly event to celebrate art and cultural events that take place within the Station North communities.” The $150,000 grant is part of an $800,000 initiative.
In other news, at GBCA I need your help. GBCA is working on a brochure, and I’d love to feature our diverse members. If you would email me two or three high resolution (300 dpi) images at your earliest convenience, we’ll try to include you in our brochure.
Until next week–
Buck Jabaily, Executive Director
